Creating a cohesive yet distinct identity for a multi-faceted company is no small task, but it’s exactly the kind of challenge we love. The Burkhalter Group, referred to us by Heather Ripley of Ripley PR (thank you, Heather!), approached us with a unique request: a refresh for their parent company’s logo, an update for one subsidiary’s logo, and the design of two brand-new logos for upcoming ventures.
This wasn’t just a typical logo project—it was an opportunity to design a family of logos that harmonized with each other while retaining their individuality.
The Design Approach
To create this “logo family,” we focused on two key strategies: consistency and uniqueness.
- Typography Consistency
All four logos share the same font, creating a unified visual language that immediately connects them to The Burkhalter Group’s brand. This uniformity reinforces the parent company’s identity across all subsidiaries.
- Color Cohesion with a Twist
The logos share the same primary color for the type, tying them together as a cohesive set. To ensure individuality, we assigned each logo its own accent color. This subtle yet impactful detail helps each logo stand out while still feeling like part of a greater whole.
The Result
The final designs are both functional and versatile. Whether displayed side-by-side or on their own, each logo communicates its unique identity while staying true to the overarching Burkhalter Group brand.
